State Congress President Bhupen Borah announced that the opposition Congress party would support the Assam Jatiya Parishad in the Majuli by-election.
This time both the opposition parties will fight together against the ruling BJP party. Notably, the State Congress Committee had earlier announced their support of the Majuli constituency to the Assam Jatiya Parishad through political alliance.
While the Majuli District Congress Committee has been opposing it, a group of other leaders including State Congress President Bhupen Borah arrived in Majuli Jenraimukh today for talks with Congress leaders and workers in Majuli.
However, the Majuli district Congress Committee president Dadhi Barua along with the other party members pose various questions over the decision taken by the state Congress committee on the Majuli by-election.
Replying to a question by party workers, the State Congress president has urged every party worker in Majuli to help the Assam Jatiya Parishad party led by Lurinjyoti Gogoi in the interest of fulfilling the moral responsibility of the Congress as the main opposition party in the state and in the interest of giving a collective war on the sensitive issues of the state.
