Assam Finance Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday made the statement that Congress has communally polarized the atmosphere of the state.

Congress changed the atmosphere of the poll-bound Assam by joining hands with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
Speaking to media, Himanta Biswa Sarma said,
“The Congress-AIUDF will positively impact on BJP’s vote meter. This alliance will lead to complete polarization because the people of Assam will not vote for Ajmal. So, by doing an alliance with a communal party, Congress has polarized the election completely. If Congress would have contested separately, this election would have been on development. But by alliancing with AIUDF, Congress has made this election a conflict of civilization.”

When asked about BJPs campaign, the NEDA Convener stated,
“BJP’s campaign will be ‘Surakhsa’, ‘Sabhyata’ and ‘Bikash’ i.e., ‘Security’, ‘Civilization’ and ‘Development’. We have talked about ‘Security’ all along because composite Assamese culture is under threat. So obviously we have to talk about the ‘Security’ of Assam, some outside the border and others from within. Likewise, our Assamese civilization is also under threat. Development of the state is a must. So, these are the three pillars of our campaign.”

When asked about the new Anti-CAA parties that have surfaced before the Assam Assembly election, Himanta Biswa Sarma said,
“Nobody is concerned or talks about that as of now. After the Covid-19 pandemic, anti-CAA has lost its traction.
Neither am I speaking for it nor against it because people have gone beyond that. Already Parliament has passed a law. It is a fait accompli. People have seen many things over the last year. They are talking about something else now. The focus has shifted from CAA to Ajmal,”
