Congress leaders and workers took out a massive protest at Dispur in Guwahati against the Assam EVM issue which took place after the second phase of polling in Karimganj on April 1.
The massive protest shows evidence of manipulation of EVMs by the BJP Government which was caught red-handed through transferring an active EVM in a vehicle of a BJP candidate.
The protest took place at Manabendra Complex in Dispur as they were fighting for the people of Assam to protect their Civil Rights.
Assam will not allow the mockery of democracy, as is BJP resorting to, in the wake of an impending defeat! Large numbers of people were seen in the protest as they urge the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take major action against the candidate, caught with the EVM. The party said that the activity is a part of vote manipulation during the Assam Assembly Election of second phase polling held on April 1.
During a press meet, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Ripun Bora stated, “Congress party during its tenure never misused its power to manipulate ECIs ‘Mode of Conduct’. Earlier also we have complained ECI against such misuse of power. But our pleas went unheard. How can a BJP MLA carry an EVM ballot box in his own vehicle. We strongly condemn such action.”
The third and the last phase of polling of the Assam Assembly Election to be held on April 6.
