With the rising cases of COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya, the government of Meghalaya has enforced a night curfew in the East Khasi Hills district.
This decision was taken by the Office of the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District. The night curfew will commence from 10 pm to 5 am daily under Section 144 of the CrPC.
All shops, establishments, restaurants, and bars will shut down by 9 pm as per the order by the District Magistrate.
The part of the official notice of the Government of Meghalaya states-
“in view of the rising number of Covis-19 positive cases and in partial modification to this office Order No. C&S.3/2009/PT.III/84, Dated Shillong, the 11th April 2021, Night Curfew will hereafter be imposed between 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily in East Khasi Hills District. All shops, establishments, restaurants, and bars are directed to shut down by 9:00 PM, or as per timing issued vide existing order, whichever is earlier.”
Meghalaya recorded 26 new COVID cases on Monday, out of which 18 were reported from East Khasi Hills. The active caseload now stood at 193.
