While the whole nation was caught in Hima Das’s ‘keenness’ and ‘zest’, a Tamil Nadu girl silently breezed past the much ‘celebrated’ and popular sprinter of Assam.

The new record set by this new Tamil Nadu girl marks her arrival in Indian athletics.
Till Tuesday, no one even cared about the 22-year-old sprinter. She is now being hailed as one of the best sprinters of India.
While Hima Das was busy celebrating her success, Dhanalakshmi, the Tamil Nadu sprinter eased past her way to break the national record held by P.T. Usha for 23 years. A record set even before Dhanalakshmi’s birth.

Who is Dhanalakshmi?
Sprinter Dhanalakshmi’s steel resolve was witnessed by the nation’s Athletic Fraternity when she entered the race track on Tuesday.
The Tamil Nadu sprinter clinched gold in the 200m event in the 24th Federation Cup Senior Athletics beating Hima Das.
In the heats, she clocked 23.26 seconds easing past Hima Das’s 24.39 seconds.
Before the event, no one imagined that this young girl from Tamil Nadu will beat the best in the business.
