Wow! Dikhow River In Sivasagar Changes Colour From Blue To Green, Residents Shocked

In a sudden occurrence, the colour of the water in the Dikhow River in the Sivasagar district of Assam has changed two times one after another, first blue and then green. The changing colour of the river waters suddenly has resulted in several speculations among the local people of the area and within no time it became a matter of concern.

Earlier on Wednesday 13 April, hundreds of dead fishes were found floating on the water surface of the Dikhow river in Assam’s Sivasagar district which attracted the attention of the people. It is just after the dead fishes floating, that the water turned blue at first and then it was seen turning green informed the locals residing near the river.

Meanwhile, it is suspected that the reason for the changing colour of water from blue to green is the chemical substances released in the coal mines closed to the upper reaches of the River in Nagaland.

Notably, the Dikhow River which is a left tributary of the Brahmaputra River rises in the Zunheboto district of the northeastern state of Nagaland and flows via Sivasagar to finally join the Brahmaputra River at Dikhowmukh of Assam.

In concern over the sudden changing of colour in the Sivasagar River, many organizations in the district are now demanding the concerned officials for an inquiry over the matter. It is noteworthy that a majority of the population living in different parts of the Sivasagar district are dependent on the waters of the Dikhow River for their daily water needs.

The people residing near the area fear that this suspected chemical affecting the river water might also affect the health of locals as they are using the water for regular water supply so the authorities must thoroughly investigate said the organizations.
