The new mechanisms to be adopted to ensure hills in Guwahati remain free from encroachments, including the 24×7 drone monitoring to identify and preserve open spaces and hills in the city.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Drones to be deployed to check encroachments in hill areas of the capital city of Guwahati.”
He also mentioned that the forest department would set up a special monitoring cell to keep eye on the hills.
A 24-hour control room of the forest department will keep a sharp eye on any such settlements.

However, the state government would settle the issue of land patta in the city.
