Assam will finally witness and travel on an ‘electronic locomotive’.
The vision of electric locomotive in the state finally became a reality after the successful trial run in Assam soil from Bongaigaon to Sarupeta stations.
Taking to Twitter, Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal wrote, “Creating An Aatmanirbhar Assam: For the first time in history, electric locomotive ran on the soil of Assam with successful trial run from Bongaigaon to Sarupeta stations.”

Soon, electric trains will run between Rangia and Guwahati station by July. The service will later get extended upto Lumding and Dibrugarh. Charging stations has been proposed at New Bongaigaon, Sorbhog, Nalbari, Kamakhya and other stations.
