Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, cases of fake doctors getting a massive spike. On Wednesday, Majuli police arrested a fake doctor who had been treating patients for the past 25 years.
Sources from Police informed that a man from Uttar Pradesh named Uttam Kushwaha set up his medical chamber near the Jengraimukh Police Station in Lakhimi gaon and had been treating patients.
Adding he said, “A team of civil administration and police officers nabbed the fraudulent doctor after receiving the information. The team also seized lakhs of rupees in cash and medical tools from him.”
However, police informed that during the interrogation, the accused confessed that he purchased a fraudulent medical education certificate for Rs.2000 in 1991 and has been treating patients in Majuli since then, taking advantage of the locals’ gullibility. He was treating in various conditions such as fever, discomfort, and so on, he also treated dental patients.”
