A consignment of foreign-origin cigarettes price over Rs 6 lakh have been seized by troopers of Assam Rifles from Mizoram’s Champhai district.
The Assam Rifles, in an official assertion, stated that the approximate price of the recovered overseas origin cigarettes is price Rs 60,5800.
The overseas cigarettes have now been handed over to the Customs Division for additional authorized proceedings.
Ongoing smuggling of overseas origin cigarettes is a serious explanation for concern for the state of Mizoram, particularly alongside the India-Myanmar Border, it additional stated.
Final month, a complete of 1300 packets of Burmese cigarettes price Rs 6 lakh have been seized from two vans in Assam’s Cachar district.
The 2 vans have been reportedly coming in from Manipur.
