Former state minister and four times MLA Gautam Bora resigns from Congress party on Friday.

In the resignation letter to Ripun Bora, President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) the minister declared that he has resigned from the primary membership as well as other posts of the Indian National Congress (INC).

In his letter, the minister has not cited the reasons for quitting the Congress party. However, many have speculated that Gautam Bora took this decision after being denied ticket from Batadrava in the Assam Assembly election.
