GMCH Sets Up New Intensive Care Unit for Covid Negative Patients

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated a 28-bed new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati.

State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta was also present in the ICU integration program.
The new ICU integration at GMCH will be provided basically to those who had turned Covid 19 negative but require intensive care.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated that the newly inaugurated ICU will scale up Assam’s fight against Covid 19 pandemic.

The newly inaugurated ICU in GMCH is another step towards scaling up the state’s Covid pandemic management drive.
Moreover, 10 new ICU beds at Covid Care Centre at Kalapahar will soon get operational further strengthening Assam’s capacities.

Taking to Twitter, Himanta Biswa Sarma stated;
“Another step towards scaling up #Assam’s pandemic management drive ~ Happy to have inaugurated 28-bed new ICU at #GMCH today which will further strengthen our capacity to treat #COVID19 patients.
GMCH team has been doing a remarkable job. Best wishes”

“In next 10 days, 28 additional ICU beds at GMCH, and 10 new beds at ICUs at #COVID19 Care Center at Kalapahar will also get operational, strengthening our capacities further.
This shall help us also cater to the non-Covid critical patients.” CM HBS further informed.
