Volunteers from the NSS group at Gauhati University distributed flood relief materials in the Darang district’s Rangamati, Chotongaon, and Barangaon areas. The drive was led by Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Student Welfare and NSS programme coordinator, and Dr Rituparna Bora, NSS programme officer.
Around 250 families were provided with essential commodities such as rice, pulses, sugar, salt, mustard oil, sanitary pads, mosquito feed oil, and wax. There was also a flood awareness program and people were adviced on ways to deal with post-flood problems.
The volunteer team consists of Priya Dutta, Manisha Deka, Pijus Sharma, Doli Chaudhary, Kiran Sarkar, Rajdeep Baruah, Ujjwal Pal, Subhankar Dey, Hirak Jyoti Gogoi, Adiluddin Ahmed, Namrata Agamacharya, Biju Gayan, Niranjan Bora, Neha Boro, Sourav Deori, Tushar Ranjan Bora, Krishnanu Sharmaphukan.
It may be recalled that the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Pratap Jyoti Sandi, Director, Student Welfare, Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Professor Professor, Guwahati University, Hostel Residents, Students’ Society officials extended a helping hand for flood relief.
