100 COVID Patients Break Out Of COVID Care Centre In Assam And Block NH-31

Guwahati: Tension prevailed in Changsari, Assam on Thursday as around 100 patients broke out of a COVID Care Centre and blocked the National Highway-31.

The patients alleged that they were not provided with food and drinking water till morning. They also expressed their displeasure over the accommodation of 10-12 patients in a single room. According to the patients, the condition of the beds was also not up to the mark.

On being informed, Babul Medhi of Changsari police station and Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Kailash Kartik rushed to the facility in Changsari. They had a discussion with the patients and asked them to clear the highway and return to the centre so that the matter can be resolved through discussion. Deputy Commissioner Kailash Karthik assured them to solve their problems. After the discussion, the agitators withdrew their protest and returned back to the centre after.

Due to the rapid surge in the number of COVID-19 patients, the Assam Government has set up a COVID Care Centre in the godown of Havells near Changsari.
