17 lakh families in Assam To get Rs. 830 Every month

Guwahati:  Health Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a press-meet at Janata Bhawan on Wednesday.  The press-meet covered the various aspects of the implementation of the ‘Arunudoi Scheme.’

The Health Minister described the scheme as unique and one of its kind. The new scheme is set to start from October 2 and works relating to the scheme will start from August 17.

As per the scheme, the government will provide financial assistance every month to the financially weaker families. The economically weaker families will receive Rs. 830 per month. Also, a family will be provided with Rs. 80 per month for buying sugar; Rs 200 per month for buying pulses.  In addition to that elderly members of a family will be paid Rs. 150 for buying fruits.

The government will credit the amount to the beneficiary’s account on the first of every month. However, the beneficiaries of the scheme must be women instead of men.

The scheme will benefit a total of 15000 households in areas less than 2 lakh voters and a total of 17 lakh families in areas more than 2 lakh voters.

The Assam government has earmarked an amount of Rs.2700 lakh for this scheme.
