Guwahati: Additional Director General of Assam (Law and Order) GP Singh on Thursday informed in a tweet on that as many as 20 Assam Police personnel have rejoined their duty after recovering from the novel Coronavirus.
The Additional DGP of Assam also stated that 726 Assam Police personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 to date out of which 350 have recovered. “We’ve unfortunately lost one colleague to date. 778 Cops are under quarantine while 20 have rejoined duty”, Singh added.
Recently, Deepjyoti Ingti, a sub-inspector of the Basistha Police Station has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
The COVID-19 situation in the state has worsened recently with a rapid surge in Corona positive cases. With the detection of 892 new COVID cases in Assam on Thursday, the COVID-19 tally has breached the 20,000 mark. The situation is termed as the “third wave” of virus spread in the region.
