News Desk: Till Friday night as many as 273 more people were tested positive for Coronavirus in Assam. Among the fresh cases, 203 are from Guwahati city alone.
In a tweet, on Friday night, Assam Health Minister Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said- ‘Alert ~ 273 new #COVID-19+ detected in Assam today. Guwahati city alone sees a surge of 203 cases today and time for us to follow lockdown instructions. Your cooperation is vital.’
This rise in COVID-19 positive cases is reported at the time when hundreds of cases have been detected without any travel history. This has forced the government to take stern steps and impose lockdown again as a safety precaution. This new phase of lockdown is said to the strictest, with very limited movement of personnel. The first week of the lockdown will experience a total shutdown of all institutions and businesses except health and medical-related ones.
The number of COVID-19 positive cases has risen to 6919 with 2660 active cases.
Out of the total COVID-19 positive cases, 965 cases are from Guwahati alone.
A total of 214 more patients have been released on Friday from various hospitals across the State.
Till now a total of 3,62,713 sample has been tested in different laboratories across the State.
