News Desk: Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta held a press meet at the Assam Police Headquarters, Ulubari today.
Here are the major points from the press meet:
Total no. of 220 cases has been found to be positive among police personnel of different districts/Battalions/Organizations.
Assam Police has evolved the system of following up of each positive case by a way of individually talking to them and finding out the well-being and other details of the person. This is done on an everyday basis.
In addition, a dedicated team also finds out the well-being of the respective family of COVID-19 positive police personnel.
Assam Police is grateful to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for proactive encouragement of the Police personnel on field and also by way of telephonic contact on every aspect of policing during the trying time, He calls up the DGP, Assam and other officials at least 3 times a day.
Assam Police is also grateful to the Hon’ble Health Minister, for various help during this period. IT mentioned in the press meet, “We are specifically grateful for dedicating one wing of Khanapara COVID care centre for exclusive use of COVID police personnel in this regard; it is worth mentioning that Assam Police has also prepared 26 bedded sophisticated accommodation along with Medical paraphernalia at Dergaon. Another COVID care center of high quality is in the final stage for service at 16th AP (IR) Bn. at Bormonipur. We have nearly hundred quarantine center dedicated to police in different parts of the state 22 no of police, Doctors and 250 nursing staff have been trained to handle police patient”.
Police has played a major role in enforcing the lockdown norms during this period.
