News Desk: A total of 25 healthcare workers, including doctors of Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, have come forward to donate blood for plasma therapy. The healthcare workers tested positive for COVID-19 and have now recovered.
Convalescent plasma therapy is a form of passive immunisation for the treatment of human infectious diseases, BBCI Director Dr Amal Chandra Kataki said
“Convalescent plasma therapy has been tried in many parts of the world for the management of moderate to severe COVID-19 patients. Presently, convalescent plasma therapy is used as an experimental model and preliminary outcome shows promising results. The management of BBCI is grateful to all the prospective donors who are rendering yeoman services for both COVID negative and positive cancer patients at BBCI. This initiative will send a strong message to the public to come forward and to freely donate plasma without any fear,” Dr. Kataki added.
