In the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, there comes some good news for the book lovers of Guwahati. The 33rd Guwahati Bookfair is set to kick off from 4 pm on Wednesday at the Assam Engineering Institute Playground in Chandmari. The book fair is a 12-day affair that is going to end on January 10.
The 33rd Guwahati bookfair will be inaugurated by Assam health and education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In addition, the former Governor of Tripura, eminent writer and thinker from West Bengal Tathagat Roy, noted writer from Arunachal Pradesh Yeshe Dorjee Thongci and the press adviser to the Assam CM Hrishikesh Goswami have been invited as the guest of honor at the inaugural function.
Organised at a budget of Rs. 50 lakhs, the fair will consist of 117 bookstalls and as many as twelve selected books are set to be released in the book fair.
To enable wider participation, entry to the book fair has been declared free of cost.
It is worth mentioning that the book fair is being held after a gap of 2 years.
