The three-day Livestock and Poultry Fair 2021 has started on Monday at Khanapara Veterinary field, Guwahati.
Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Veterinary Atul Bora officially inaugurated the fair.
In his inaugural speech, the Minister said that the animal husbandry sector has made a huge contribution to the development of the state.
The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President further said that the Department got a new look in the days off the present government.
The new scheme adopted by the Animal Husbandry Department has paved the way for the farmers of Assam.
Minister Bora made a significant remark that the farmers of Assam should take over the markets of the state and the North East.

Speaking on the occasion, Hrishikesh Goswami, Media Adviser to the Chief Minister, said that agriculture is the lifeblood of our state.
The Media Adviser to CM also said that self-reliance can be achieved through animal husbandry, and young men and women can live with self-respect.
In recent days, the Corporation has been able to make more than 15,000 young women self-reliant.
Secretary to Commissioner of Animal Husbandry Shyam Jagganath, Commissioner of Agriculture Akashdeep, College of Veterinary Science teacher Vivekananda Saikia, Director of Animal Husbandry Ashok Barman were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
CM’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami inaugurated the main door of the fair. More than 125 merchants participated in the exhibition.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony to be held on February 10. The best cattle breeders of district and state level will be awarded at the concluding ceremony.
