News Desk: Due to the incessant rain in the past four days, a major portion of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Barjhar is now submerged underwater.

As a result of the artificial flood created by the incessant rain, the main entrance of the airport is underwater since today morning.

Meanwhile, many major areas of the airport including the parking lot of Garrison India Office, the office of Airport Authority are also underwater.

The people working in the airport as well as the travellers are facing a lot of problems because of  the flood.

However, the runway of the airport is still safe. According to sources, the flood water is yet to enter the runway. But if the rain continue, there is a chance that the runway might submerge underwater as well.

It is worth mentioning that, there have been previous incidents of the runway being submerged underwater.

Despite of the various efforts by the Airport Authority and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation to curb the flood problems, today’s incident shows the hollow nature of the authorities.
