Guwahati: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Metropolitan District, on Thursday passed an order to close down the Beltola Daily and by-weekly market with immediate effect.
This order comes in view of the large gathering of people, non-maintenance of COVID-19 protocols including social distancing and the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in Guwahati.
This order will be implemented strictly and any violation of the order will attract penal action under relevant provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2020.
The order has the approval of the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Kamrup Metropolitan District and will be in force until further order.
Recently,144 corona cases with no travel history were reported in Guwahati. Authorities fear community spread of the virus in Guwahati.
