Guwahati: Prominent Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Manas Konwar, has finally been granted bail by an NIA court against a surety of Rs. 30,000, Krishna Gogoi, Konwar’s legal counsel said.

“ Manas Konwar has been granted bail for a bail bond of Rs. 30,000 against the case 13/19 by an NIA court. Konwar has been accused of this case since January and the NIA had filed a charge sheet against Manas Konwar. The NIA in the charge sheet mentioned Manas Konwar, Akhil Gogoi, Dhaijya Konwar, and Bitu Sonowal as the accused,” Manas Konwar’s legal counsel Krishna Gogoi told Headline8.

“While Akhil Gogoi’s bail hearing has been scheduled for July 16,” Krishna Gogoi informed.

This development came to light in midst of the raging protests across the state demanding the release of Akhil Gogoi and his fellow activists who were arrested for their involvement in the Anti Citizenship (amendment) Act protests.

Meanwhile, Akhil Gogoi, Bitu Sonowal, And Dhaijya Konwar have tested positive for COVID-19 at Guwahati Central Jail and they are undergoing treatment in Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
