COVID-19 Patient May Undergo Home Isolation

HBS

Guwahati: The Health Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma addressed a press meet on Saturday at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati. In the press meet, Dr. Sharma discussed various issues related to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a COVID-19 patient in Assam may undergo home isolation, considering he/she signs an agreement agreeing to the following conditions:

  1. Neighbors must not oppose their stay at their flat/residence
  2. He/she can stay at home if he/she does not have aged parents or other co-morbid patients
  3. They have to purchase a pulse oximeter
  4. They should have a private doctor with whom they must share their pulse oximeter rate every 3 hours

If the pulse oximeter rate dips to below 95, they should go to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in a private vehicle and have a driver available for 24 hrs.

“They must sign an agreement agreeing to all the terms, then we do not object to the patient staying at home. We respect their choice to stay at home, but it is illegal to transmit the virus to others” Dr. Sharma said.
