While kicking off the construction work of the Assam’s longest flyover in Maligaon, the PWD and Finance Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that with an aim to make the city streets less congested, the under-construction Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati will be opened for the public during the Durga Puja.
He also informed that the flyover at Super Market would be opened on the first day of Bohag, the first month of the Assamese calendar.
Calling this quick development in Guwahati as a feature of the vision of the state government to make the city the entryway to the whole of South East Asia, the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal said that this improvement has been taken up as the main concern by the State government to make Assam probably the best state in the nation.
Mentioning the thought of Prime Minister Modi’s ‘change through transportation’ motto, Sonowal said that 15 thousand km road has been underlying the state under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) during the current state government instead of moderate movement of improvement during the tenure of the past governments.
Meanwhile, the flyover at Maligaon will be 3-km long and will connect Maligaon with Kamakhya Gate and Pandu. The flyover will be constructed with an expected cost of Rs. 420.75 crore from State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD) fund 2020-21 within 36 months.
