News Desk: Once again a student gets arrested for protesting against the Government. Dipjyoti Gogoi, a student of Gauhati University was detained for reciting a poem. He was arrested from Rajbari, Sivasagar. Dipjyoti, on a social media platform, recited a poem titled, ‘An Open Letter to The Nation’.
Dipjyoti Gogoi was picked up by Sivasagar Police on Monday late evening in a case related to Guwahati Crime Branch for allegedly cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property under IPC sections 420, 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation) and Section 66A of the Information Technology Act. Later, Gogoi was handed over to Guwahati Police.
According to Guwahati Police, Gogoi runs a Facebook page where he allegedly shared fake information by faking the identity of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding donations for floods.
Police will brief officially soon. Gogoi, a student of MA second semester of GU, is a critic of Sonowal government, often seen demanding the release of peasant leader Akhil Gogoi.
