Due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the state, the Assam had issued some Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in order to check the surge of cases and promised strict action against the violators. The police have adopted a number of steps to make sure that the COVID-19 SOPs are strictly followed. Accordingly, Guwahati Traffic Police (GTP) has also left no stone unturned in keeping a check on the violators of COVID SOPs.
According to data received from Guwahati Traffic Police, a total of 331 fine cases have been detected from May 4 till May 12 and fine amounting to Rs. 3.26 lakh has been collected so far. Also, GTP has registered a total of 795 FIRs till May 12. In addition, a total of 64 vehicles have been detained in the given time.
