This year, the Hare Krishna Movement Guwahati will commemorate Krishna Janmashtami from August 19 to August 21 at the Hare Krishna Mandir in North Guwahati.
On August 17, the Hare Krishna Movement held a news conference to discuss the four-day celebration of Krishna Janmashtami. Janardhana Dasa, President of the Hare Krishna Movement in Guwahati, urged everyone to attend the event with family and friends on all four days.
On August 20, the Naudotay festival will be held, which also coincides with Vas Pula, which is held on the commemoration of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Problangado’s birth anniversary as the Founding Acharya of the Worldwide Hare Krishna Movement:
Highlights of the programme

On August 19, the deities will be bathed, followed by naam Kirtan, which will take place throughout the day.

On August 19 and 20, a Chappan Bhog programme will be organised, with over 108 food items provided to all devotees.

The Heritage Festival will take place between August 16 and August 21. The festival will include an educational cultural competition for students in grades 1 through 10. The tournament will be organised to provide them with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in cultural activities. All events will take place on the IIT campus.

From August 17 to August 21, another Cultural Program will be presented. This show will have prominent national and state artists sharing the stage. Every day at 4 p.m., various art forms will be performed. Renowned performers include Kailash Talukdar, Tarali Sharma, Om Chetry Simanta Shekhar, Anjan Hazarika, and Sangita Kakoti.

On August 20, there will be a Vyasa Puja. There will be a spectacular abhishekam and prasadam will be distributed.
According to Vijay Gopal. “More than 100 volunteers are helping us this time. We have arranged a free Prashad distribution for all the devotees and volunteers. At lunch and dinner time, we will provide a full meal. The rest of the time we will distribute Khichdi and Kheer. We are arranging another unit where cakes and biscuits will be offered. There will be another counter from where you can take prashad to members of your family who couldn’t visit the mandir”.
Vice President Vijay Pandit Dasa told a reporter, “When the mandir was inaugurated in 2001 around 40,000 devotees visited the mandir. This year, we are expecting a minimum of 1,00,000 devotees. A parking lot has also been arranged for them”.
