Janmashtami- Birth of Lord Krishna: Celebrations in Guwahati Hare Krishna Mandir

This year, the Hare Krishna Movement Guwahati will commemorate Krishna Janmashtami from August 19 to August 21 at the Hare Krishna Mandir in North Guwahati.

On August 17, the Hare Krishna Movement held a news conference to discuss the four-day celebration of Krishna Janmashtami. Janardhana Dasa, President of the Hare Krishna Movement in Guwahati, urged everyone to attend the event with family and friends on all four days.

On August 20, the Naudotay festival will be held, which also coincides with Vas Pula, which is held on the commemoration of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Problangado’s birth anniversary as the Founding Acharya of the Worldwide Hare Krishna Movement:

Highlights of the programme

According to Vijay Gopal. “More than 100 volunteers are helping us this time. We have arranged a free Prashad distribution for all the devotees and volunteers. At lunch and dinner time, we will provide a full meal. The rest of the time we will distribute Khichdi and Kheer. We are arranging another unit where cakes and biscuits will be offered. There will be another counter from where you can take prashad to members of your family who couldn’t visit the mandir”.

Vice President Vijay Pandit Dasa told a reporter, “When the mandir was inaugurated in 2001 around 40,000 devotees visited the mandir. This year, we are expecting a minimum of 1,00,000 devotees. A parking lot has also been arranged for them”.
