Lockdown In Guwahati To Be extended By At least A Week

Guwahati: The District Administration held a meeting on Friday with the officials of the Health Department and the Nagar Samitis. The officials present in the meeting put forward their views regarding the increase in lockdown in Guwahati.

The meeting held at the GMCH auditorium to discuss the issues related to the lockdown was attended by representatives from 20 Nagar Samitis, top officials from the Police Administration, and the Health Department. The meeting endorsed the extension of the lockdown. However, the government was asked to decide whether it should be increased for two weeks or just one.

In the meantime, Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma addressed a press meet on Saturday to discuss the various issues related to the lockdown. Dr. Sharma said that the health department has however recommended for the lockdown to be extended by only a week and unlock protocols to follow the very next week.

The Health Minister also informed that the Chief Secretary will eventually decide on the duration of the lockdown and a notice would be released by him on Sunday regarding the duration and guidelines of the next lockdown.
