News Desk: On July 9, 2020, the Chief Secretary of Assam, Kumar Sanjay Krishna issued an order. In the order, Assam’s Chief Secretary made some partial modifications in the restrictions imposed on the sale of groceries and vegetables during the lockdown.
In the partial modification of the restrictions imposed, the following activities are allowed for the week between July 5, 2020, and July 12, 2020, in Kamrup (M) –
- Wholesalers of essential items like Rice, Atta, Pulses, Onions, Potatoes, Salt, and edible oil may be allowed to replenish their stocks on July 10, 2020, between 10 AM and 6 PM.
- Wholesalers are allowed to distribute essential commodities to retailers on Saturday i.e. on July 11, 2020, between 10 AM and 6 PM.
- Fruits and vegetables are allowed to be retailed following strict social distancing rules in residential areas on Saturday i.e. July 11, 2020.
- Grocery shops and shops selling personal hygiene items are allowed to open on July 11, 2020, between 9 AM and 5 PM.
However, roadside vending of any fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, etc. is strictly prohibited.
The order also stated that all other restrictions that were imposed earlier due to the lockdown shall remain in place.
