NSUI Condemns Zubeen Incident, Suspends Accused

Guwahati: NSUI Assam Pradesh on Thursday issued a notification where they strongly condemned the incident of maltreatment of renowned Assamese Singer Zubeen Garg.

In the press release, NSUI Assam also announced the suspension of Hirak Rajbangshi, an NSUI Assam member, from the organization. Hirak Rajbangshi is one of the prime accused in the Zubeen Garg incident.

“NSUI is an organization which believes in Gandhian ideology. Non-violence is its primary motto. There is no place in NSUI for those who believe in violence. Therefore, NSUI vehemently condemns the incident of maltreatment committed to great singer Zubeen Garg and as per the direction of Assam State NSUI President Jyotibikash Changmai suspended Hirak Rajbangshi from the organisation with immediate effects,” the press release stated.

Zubeen Garg was attacked by a group of 6 people including Rajbangshi while he was returning home from his studio at Zoo road tiniali. It was around 12:40 am at midnight when the miscreants in a Maruti Ciaz bearing registration no. AS 01 BY 0675 overtook Zubeen’s car and then restricted him. They even came out of the vehicle and started to molest and harass him with abusive words and physical attributes by flaunting beer bottles in their hands.
