News Desk: Hon’ble Minister of State, Health & Family Welfare of Government of Assam Shri Pijush Hazarika paid a visit to Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati to interact with the management of the institute in view of increasing number of cancer patients post lockdown.
Shri Hazarika was accompanied by Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department. Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, Director of BBCI apprised the Minister of the various steps taken by the hospital to serve cancer patients during this hour of humanitarian crisis.
During the visit, Shri Hazarika inspected the newly installed TrueNat equipment for rapid testing of cancer patients attending the hospital for Covid-19 . It may be stated that, Government of Assam has provided the TrueNat equipment and additional staff for facilitating Covid-19 testing at BBCI. Shri Hazarika assured the management of the institute for all possible help from the state Government like providing Personal Protection Equipments (PPE) to doctors and healthcare workers of BBCI. Shri Hazarika appreciated the fact that the hospital has been able to provide treatment and other services to a large number of cancer patients during the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown period.
During his visit, Shri Hazarika also released the inaugural edition of BBCI Edge: A Science Magazine edited by Dr Gaurav Das, Associate Professor, Surgical Oncology at BBCI.
