Police vows to install CCTV Cameras in entry-exit points of Guwahati in 45 days

The Assam Police Department has decided to install IP (Internet Protocol) and SIM-based CCTV cameras at all entry and exit points in Guwahati.

The Special DGP (Law and Order), GP Singh, made the announcement in front of the media on Monday following a review meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, all Deputy Commissioners of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, and Officers in Charge (OC) of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate. The meeting covered the general performance of the Guwahati police, law and order, crime, and the force’s future road map for the next year.

Singh stated that the meeting discussed ways to make progress on unsolved crimes in order to ensure public safety. The meeting focused on how to use technology to improve policing for citizens.

The Special DGP stated that the installation of IP (Internal Portal) and SIM-based CCTV cameras at city entry and exit points is expected to be completed within 45 days or so, with funds provided by Assam Police Headquarters.

Singh stated that the city police have already identified the locations where the CCTV cameras will be installed.
