General Secretary of the Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reached Guwahati to pay his last respect to former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi.
Rahul Gandhi landed at 9.40 am Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport, and drove straight to Sankardev Kalakshetra.
In his address to the media, Rahul Gandhi said, “Tarun Gogoi was my mentor. He was my teacher. Personally, I am very sad. When I came to Assam, I met him. This is a great loss for the Congress party. ”
Rahul Gandhi also tweeted that he had lost a teacher shortly after the death of Tarun Gogoi.
“Shri Tarun Gogoi was a true Congress leader. He devoted his life to bringing all the people and communities of Assam together. For me, he was a great and wise teacher. I loved and respected him deeply. I will miss him. My love and condolences to Gaurav & the family”, Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

The leader met the family members at the government residence and expressed his condolences. Rahul Gandhi also met Dolly Gogoi and expressed his condolences.
