Guwahati Desk: At least three police personnel have been tested positive for COVID-19 in Guwahati. The three police personnel belonging to the Panbazar Police Station include two constables and one home guard.
They were detected COVID-19 positive during a swab test of all the staff of the police station. Earlier from the same police station, a probationary sub-inspector(SI) was also tested positive for COVID-19.
A woman who is a resident of the Panbazar police quarters has also been tested positive. Several city police officers were residents of the same quarters, they all have been placed under quarantine. In the Fancy Bazar area of Guwahati, three salespersons of different shops has also been confirmed COVID-19 positive.
To date, the number of COVID-19 cases rose to 5388 in Assam with 2019 active cases. The number of people who recovered till now is 3360, sadly a total of 9 people died due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Sunday, 331 people were tested positive. This is the highest in a single day, the previous single-day highest was 285 on June 4. The state’s recovery rate has increased to 62.36 percent with 202 more patients discharged on Sunday.
