New traffic advisories have been issued by the Guwahati Police for the city’s traffic during the arrival of India’s President Droupadi Murmu on October 13 (Thursday) and 14 (Friday).
Commercial goods-carrying vehicles with six wheels or more are not permitted to travel on the sections of NH-27 and NH-17 that pass through Guwahati between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday.
From 8 am to 12:30 pm on Friday, commercial goods-carrying vehicle traffic will be prohibited on D.G. Road, A.T. Road, M.G. Road, A.T. Road, G.S. Road, K.L.B. Road, Taibullah Road, G.N.B. Road, B. Baruah Road, and Panjabari Road.
This warning has been given for the general public’s safety on the road and to allow emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire engines unfettered passage.
For commuters’ sake, the police have asked that everyone, especially commercial transporters, abide by the advise.
At the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati campus in Guwahati, Assam, President Droupadi Murmu will dedicate a supercomputer facility called “Param Kamrupa” and a high power active and passive component laboratory called “SAMEER” on Thursday, October 13.
According to a statement, dignitaries including Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar, state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, and others would attend the event.
