The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kamrup (M) district of Assam, Biswajit Pegu, has issued an order directing people to vacate government and protected lands within 30 days. It was further added that if the encroachers fail to vacate the land within the stipulated time, they will be evicted as per the ‘Assam Land and Revenue Regulations-1886’.
The notification will be treated as the ‘notice for eviction’ and ‘no notice will be issued to them individually’, the DC added.
The notification comes as a result of an order issued by the Gauhati High Court in this regard on November 12.
