Congress Legislator Party (CLP) leader Debabrata Saikia slammed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for demanding a total ban on Amnesty International from the country.
In a video on Wednesday, Saikia said that the Pegasus Spyware was used to hack Rahul Gandhi’s phone data since July 2018 before the Lok Sabha elections 2019. And he was not the only one to be snooped. West Bengal Trinamool Congress leader Prashant Kishore’s phone data, too, has been hacked through ‘Pegasus Spyware’. Saikia further alleged that all the evidence that has come across now reveals that these are directly linked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Israel visit in the year 2017.
Targeting the Assam Chief Minister, Debabrata Saikia added, “Despite demanding for a probe against the violators of the constitutional rights of the citizens by stealing personal information in connection with mobile hacking by ‘Pegasus Spyware’, Assam Chief Minister has been demanding a total ban on Amnesty International in the country for revealing the true facts about the Government.”
The same Amnesty International had earlier revealed before the citizens of Assam about the ruling government using forces to torture the people during the CAA 2019 movement, claimed the CLP leader.
Meanwhile, reports are surfacing in the media claiming that the two most prominent leaders from Assam, Samujjal Bhattacharjee of AASU, and Anup Chetia of the pro-talks faction of ULFA, figure in the leaked list of potential spyware targets, apart from a Manipuri writer.
