Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today held a meeting with the State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA), Drug Prevention, Assam, and representatives from various private rehabilitation centres at the conference hall of CM’s Office.

In the meeting, various rehabilitation measures for the de-addiction treatment in Assam against drugs were discussed. In the meeting, Chief Minister advocated the drafting of a drugs rehabilitation policy for the state and asked the Health and Social Welfare department to prepare a draft of the said policy with the consultation with the various organizations dealing with the de-addiction measures.

CM Sarma also stressed the need for better scoping and a scientific approach in the matter so that rehabilitated persons will not indulge again in such activities. The Chief Minister also directed the officials to take steps for the proper registration of the rehabilitation centre.
