History and Geography compulsory up to class X

Assam government has taken a decision to make both history and geography subjects compulsory for schools from the next academic session.

The decision was officially announced on Friday when the state government led by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma completed 100 days since taking charge.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressing the media said, “The state government has decided to make it compulsory for all students in the state to study both history and geography.”

Assam government has also decided to implement the ‘senior secondary school’ concept from the 2022 academic session under the national education policy. Implementation of the scheme, all high schools in the state will be automatically upgraded to higher secondary level, the CM added.
