News Desk: In a bizarre incident, the Iran government on Monday issued an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump. The Iran government also seek help from Interpol for detaining Donald Trump and 30 others.
Iran government accused President Donald Trump and 30 others of involvement in the January 3 airstrike that killed Iran’s top-ranked Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad.
Ali Alqasimehr, a Tehran prosecutor said that Trump and 30 more others will face ‘murder and terrorism charges’. He also stated that Iran would continue to pursue Donald Trump’s prosecution even after the end of his presidency.
Alqasimehr also was quoted that Iran requested a ‘red notice’ be put out for Trump and the others, which represents the highest level arrest request issued by Interpol.
It is unlikely that Interpol will grant Iran’s request. Interpol’s guidelines forbid them from ‘undertaking any intervention or activities of a political nature.’
The US government killed General Soleimani, who oversaw the Revolutionary Guard Corps’ expeditionary Quds Force and many others in the January attack near Baghdad International Airport.
The assassination came months after the rise in tension between the two countries due to which the Iran government eventually retaliated with a ballistic missile attack targeting American troops in Iraq.
