The Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison has been criticised for the proposal to let children operate forklifts in Australia amid a shortage of workers amid Covid-19. Morrison floated the proposal to bring down the minimum age to drive forklifts from 18 to 16. However the Prime Minister later said the administration to not to go forward with the proposal.
As reported by Guardian Australia, the Prime Minister took the idea to Thursday’s national cabinet meeting with state and territory leaders rejected by states and territories and criticised as a dangerous “brain fart” By unions.
The Prime Minister who is often pictured behind the wheel of forklifts, truck on Wednesday said that “there are changes that we need to make around the age of forklift drivers to get quite specific”. National Cabinet had “agreed to proceed no further with the issue of 16-years-old forklift drivers” Said Morrison on Thursday, after the rejection by the state and ministers.
