When concerned users worried that the messaging application is no more reliable in terms of privacy policy which led to Whatsapp retarding its update which intended at boosting business transaction on the platform.
This month Whatsapp users got a shocking notification that it was laying the foundations for a new privacy policy and terms and also reserves the right to share some user data in connection to the Facebook application.
The decision of new policy received disapproval from all around the globe and usage of different private messaging applications like Telegram and Signal.
On Friday, it was further announced that WhatsApp is postponing the new policy launch to May from February. The main purpose of the update was to facilitate users’ messaging with the businesses and to still have end-to-end encryption that protects personal conversations.
It even said that many people don’t use WhatsApp for business today because they aren’t aware of the services provided.
Facebook has been introducing various business tools over WhatsApp with the aim to increase revenue from WhatsApp and Instagram (higher- growth units) and unifying e-commerce infrastructure across the company.
Some sort of personal details like phone number and IP address is already being shared with Facebook. But WhatsApp clarified that it doesn’t keep logs of people messaging and calling. It can’t access shared location and share contacts with Facebook.
WhatsApp stated back in October that it is looking forward to start offer in-app purchases through Facebook Shops and will also offer firms using customer service messaging tools the power to store those messages on Facebook servers. Chats with a business using the new hosting service would not be protected by the end-to-end encryption provided by the application.
