Elon Musk tweets he is buying Manchester United

Elon Musk

Multibillionaire Elon Musk announced the purchase of Manchester United in a thread joking about his political allegiances. The Tesla CEO made the claim in a tweet thread in which he stated his support for the Republican Party’s left wing and the Democratic Party’s right wing.

While it was unclear whether Elon Musk was serious about the deal, his tweet quickly went viral.

The American Glazer family, which owns the club, has drawn the ire of Manchester United fans due to poor performances. Manchester United is currently at the bottom of the Premier League following a 4-0 thrashing by Brentford in an away game.

Manchester United fans have recently protested against the Glazers, who purchased the club for 790 million pounds ($955.51 million) in 2005. The club currently has a market capitalization of $2.08 billion.
