Twitter founder Jack Dorsey broke his silence on the massive layoffs at the microblogging platform after Elon Musk took over the company on Saturday, apologising to those who lost their jobs. He acknowledged that many people were upset with him and that he accepted responsibility for the current situation.
Dorsey stated on Twitter that he regrets the company’s rapid growth as a social media platform.
“Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment. I realise many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologise for that,” Dorsey tweeted.
“I am grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter. I don’t expect that to be mutual at this moment…or ever…and I understand,” He continued.
After a $44 billion buyout, Musk became the new owner of the microblogging site. Top executives such as ex-CEO Parag Agarwal and Vijaya Gadde have been fired since he took over.
