New Delhi: Nepal on Friday issued a new advisory telling Indian nationals to display ID cards while visiting Nepal, citing the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Nepal’s home minister Ram Bahadur Thapa said to ease the data collection and make better plans to deal with the pandemic, the decision was made.

Nepal media said that the registration would formalize the record-keeping process for better movement of people and better management during the pandemic.

Earlier, Nepal prime minister KP Sharma Oli blamed Indian nationals for the spread of coronavirus in Nepal, citing the Nizamuddin Markaz incident.

Nepal has opened only 10 entry points for their citizens to enter Nepal from India.

Sources have said that Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra will be holding talks with Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi in this regard.

This comes days after tension emerged between Indian and Nepal over the strategic regions in Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura.
