The president of US Joe Biden has recently commented on India purchasing Russian oil. India that purchasing discounted Russian oil would put the world’s largest democracy on the “wrong side of history”.
Purchasing Russian oil might be a support for the Russian leadership and which indicates India’s support for Russian invasion.
According to Biden buying discounted oil from Russia would not violate U.S. sanctions but such move will put India on the wrong side of history.
Regarding this the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, ” I don’t believe this would be violating that (sanctions).” “But also think about where you want to stand when history books are written at this moment in time. Support for the Russian leadership is support for an invasion that obviously is having a devastating impact.”
