India has reached an agreement with its neighbouring country China on the issue of disengagement of troops in Ladakh’s Pangong Tso, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The accord includes the following important points:
- Both sides will pull back their deployment in an organised, phased, and verified procedure.
- Both sides have agreed to complete withdrawal under bilateral pacts and protocols.
- It has been decided to gather the next meeting consisting of military commanders within 48 hours of complete disengagement in the Pangong area.
- The Chinese troops will be present in the Pangong lake’s North Bank area to the east of Finger 8.
- The Indian side will keep its troops at their fixed base at Dhan Singh Thapa Post near Finger 3.
Singh has guaranteed the Parliament that India has not lost anything major even though there are standing issues regarding deployment and patrolling. Singh further mentioned the efforts of Indian armed forces in Eastern Ladakh and how effectively they handled it.
Sufficient and efficacious counter deployments have been made for India’s security, Singh said.
The defence minister stated that it is expected from China that it works with India to find solutions for the remaining problems.
Singh even assured that the whole country stands together on the question of unity, integrity and security of the country.
He said that India will not allow even an inch of its territory to be taken over by another country.
