“Thank You PM Modi and India for the Vaccine Doses”: Allen Chastanet

Eastern Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia, on March 1 received 25,000 doses of Indian made CovidShield vaccines. CovidShield, manufacture by Serum Institute of India (SII) is the localized name of the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford.

The vaccine shipment was received by the country’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet. He offered his gratitude to New Delhi for donating the lifesaving vaccine shots.
In the aftermath of receiving the CovidShield jabs, Chastanet took to Twitter to shared photographs of vaccine shipment unloaded from airplanes.
“Thank you to Prime Minister @narendramodi and our friends from India for donating 25,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine to Saint Lucia.” he wrote

Later, St Vincent and the Grenadines also received 40,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses from India under the Vaccine Maitri initiative.
The plane carrying the consignment of vaccine doses landed at the International Airport at around 12 noon.
Earlier the plane distributed vaccines to Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, and St Lucia.

St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonzalez also personally reached the airport to receive the consignment.
The Caribbean nation has reported over 1,550 Covid-19 cases and eight deaths.

Till now, India has dispatched over 36 Million doses of domestically produced vaccines to over 25 countries, under its ‘Vaccine Maitri’ programme.
